Giving back to the sport

There is one conversation that we at RailMeets have had with people all over the world. How do we match experienced skippers with new skippers to get them started in sail racing? RailMeets is doing its part to match them up. Say you are an experienced skipper that wants to give back. You can now check a box on your profile that indicates that you are open to mentor. If you are a newbie skipper and want some help you can check a box on your boats profile to indicate that you would like some help getting started. This is searchable in our crew/boat finder. Thanks to the three people that have already made themselves available to mentor as well as one boat that is looking for a mentor. Can any of our eastern Michigan peeps help him out?

Adding Events

Today’s tip is how to add events to your boats schedule. After you have created your boat in the system it will take you to a summery page. Under the summery you will see a button for EVENTS. Click on that. The next page will show that you do not have any events yet. You can manually add events by clicking on “Add Events” or you can use the predefined events by clicking on “Add Event from List”.

From the “add event from list button you will be taken to the list of all the events in the system. You can use the search function to limit it by name say “NOOD” or by club like CCYC or CASRA. If your club is not yet using RosterMonsters.com we can add all you events by sending the list to marco@rostermonsters.com.

Click on a few events that interest you. You can also set the default meet on dock or race start times. When you are done scroll down to the bottom and click on “Transfer Selected Events” Congrats they are on your schedule. You can now sign up for the events but we’ll save that for another day.

Getting started

This weeks tip is how to get started using RosterMonsters.com. If you don’t have an account you will need to create one. To do that go to RosterMonsters.com. At the bottom of the page under the sign in button you will see “Not a Member? Sign up now” Click on sign up now and you will be taken to the sign up page. We need your first and last name, email address and a password. Click on the signup button and you have an account. You should receive an confirmation email. Follow the link in the email to confirm your account. Congrats you are part of the RosterMonsters.com family!
