We are based in Chicago and we are proud of our heritage and our city. Our season is short but intense. If you go to the RailMeets home page we feature our city on point. The picture was taken from the vicinity of the Wilson Ave. water intake crib looking southwest. The boats racing are part of the notoriously competitive Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club’s Wednesday Night Series. CCYC is one of the clubs that use RailMeets to help organize their racing. We can help with crew finders, dues collection, rating certificate storage, schedule management and many other tasks to make your clubs racing better. Drop us an email and let us know how we can help your club.
Are you new to RailMeets? Is your clubs racing schedule missing from RailMeets? We can add your clubs events. It’s easiest if they are in our format which you can download here https://static.railmeets.com/assets/sampledata/calendar_2018_template_v1.xlsx But any format will work just make sure that your handwriting is legible. We can usually have them up in 24hrs. Please send them via email to Marco at railmeets.com.
Our good friends at Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club have a new crew finder and guess what? It’s Powered by RailMeets! This is the first of many partnerships that we will be announcing in the coming months. If you are a current RailMeets user your RailMeets user ID and password will work across all the Powered by RailMeets sites. Best of all you can see your data across all our partner sites.
Looking for a boat? Looking for crew? Why post your phone number and email address on some musty old school crew and boat finder when you can use RailMeets or our partner sites like CCYC. Your information is kept secure and you don’t have to worry about your email getting spammed. You can use the search function to find the perfect boat or crew member. You chose what information is displayed and who you share it with. You can actively search and contact prospective crew or boats or passively wait for someone to contact you.
Want to power your clubs crew and boat finder with RailMeets, please contact us to learn more or visit our site.
You can check out CCYC’s crew finder here http://www.corinthian.org/crew%20finder
I saw some of you over the weekend and were asking how to get your crew on to RailMeets. First they have to have an account. It’s free so no excuse. Once they have the account and log in they will see this page.
Click on “If you are part of an existing crew find it here” Click on the “here”. If will bring up a list of all the boats in the system, Tell them which boat to find and click on “Join Crew” They will be added to the crew. Easy Peasy.
We have big plans for the future of RailMeets and we will be making announcements throughout the year. Setting us up for greatness required a new home page. Visit us at https://www.railmeets.com/ and check it out. Clicking on the “Get Started” button will take you directly to the log in page. We hope you like it!
Next week is our 2018 season kick off. But you say it’s only January and in much of the country its freezing outside. Well this week is also the start of the Chicago Strictly Sail and boat and RV show. As we all know winter boat shows are a great time to get caught up with your summer friends and Meet some new people that you might be hanging out with on the Rail with this summer. We will be having quite a few announcements next week and I encourage you to keep an eye on our blog and Facebook page. Oh and by the way I gave you a hint in the text above…
This past Wednesday we held our first Focus Group and User Meeting at Chicago Corinthian Yacht Club. We invited our top users and boats for some pizza and beer in exchange for their opinions, suggestions and experiences. Marco gave a demonstration of some of the upcoming features including the new crew and boat finders. A good time was had by all. We are going to do these every so often to get you, the users opinion on RosterMonsters.com. Look for the next one sometime in the spring
Gang, we have been posting on Facebook with tips and tricks for a while. Quite frankly some of those posts are longer than usual for social media. Now we will post all the tips and tricks here and we will notify you on Facebook that there is something new to look over here. All of the Facebook content has been copied (see below) and soon will be tagged so if you are looking for something specific you can find it fast.
The main RosterMonsters.com site will soon have a link to this page, look for “Blog” in the top bar across the top. To return to the main site click on the “Home” link at the top right of this page.
If there are any topics you would like to see us cover send us a message.
Welcome back to all our Mac racers. We at RosterMonsters hope everyone came in first and your trip was safe and fun. We had a blast in the Chicago Mac despite the bad weather on Sunday and the lack of wind on Monday. A non sailing “friend” asked why do it? I found this post that sums it all up well
The first time you log into RosterMonsters.com you will see a list of boats. If you are crew and your skipper asked you to join, find their boat and click on “register”. Depending on how they have the preferences set you may be automatically joined or the system will send an email telling the Captain that you asked to join. The Captain will then approve you joining the team.
If you are a skipper and want to add your boat to RosterMonsters.com than scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “add a new boat”. The next page will you ask some questions about your boat. If there is more than one harbor in your city you may want to put something like Montrose Harbor, Chicago IL. for your location. More on that in an upcoming tip. One last thing, if you select “Self Register? then any crew can sign themselves up for your program. Cool if you are looking for crew. More on that in a future tip.
